About

AMA (Ama Sarpong Atobrah) also meaning “Born on Saturday” in the native language of Ghana, was born in Queens, New York on January 9, 1988. She is a first generation American with Jamaican and Ghanaian decent. At age 2, she and her single mother moved to Reston, Virginia where she flourished in music, athletics, and literature. She began to focus primarily on music her senior year of high school and attended Berklee College of Music the following semester.
After graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Electronic Music Production and Design, Ama started showing off her soulful and vibrant voice around the DMV. Motivated by her personal ups and downs, and living within the eyes of a young African-American woman, she hopes to inspire all by sharing her personal experiences.
Ama is currently in the process of writing and recording her debut album “Born On Saturday” available December 22, 2012 and performing primarily around the Washington, D.C. area.
