great recordings. those ZOOMs are amazing! i love the sounds quality. i predominantly use a ZOOM for most of what i do.
great work! beautiful!
@swampmessiah: i am attempting to do exactly what the composers of the tone poem did. create a swath of sound that encourages the listener to form a narrative based on the emotional reaction to the loops and cycles of the compositions. oddly enough, i had no idea what a tone poem was until i just looked it up. :-)
@swampmessiah: ha! good! i was going for a strong bassy drone pull. i've been playing in the midrange too much lately.
@swampmessiah: ha! it will certainly be on my greatest hits!
@swampmessiah: thanks again, sound art is exactly what i am attempting to do.
@swampmessiah: thanks! this is a re-worked older track. my material from a couple of years ago tends to be less stream of conscience so, i am sure that came through in the re-interpretation. i am glad you feel there is variety, i am trying to stay out of a sound rut while still having a sound.
@RuMar Music: thank you!
@swampmessiah: i have been delving into subtlety, something i have far from mastered. however, this track just recorded quietly, not sure why. oddly enough there was a chainsaw, semi-truck, chickens, children, jets and neighbors going on in the background when i wrote this. it was driving me mad.
@RuMar Music: thanks!
@Lyndsie Alguire: thank you! glad you like it!
@swampmessiah: yeah, this track was mostly synths, with a few samples (live jazz band, apoc now, castanets...) i was playing with the modulation on my droning synth bass and the arpeggiator with another synth sound which gave it a old school sci-fi sound. it is my old industrial roots peeking out from behind my new softer approach. also, i am trying not to get stuck in a specific sound rut while maintaining a 'me sound'
@swampmessiah: ha! thanks, i totally take that as a compliment.
@eliransegev: that is the low e string of an acoustic guitar seriously down tuned. glad you like it!
@swampmessiah: thanks again! this track may be one of my all time personal favorites of the stuff i have done.
@swampmessiah: yes, everything in these 5 compositions have been source recorded with my ZOOM H4n except the female vocals. those were recorded with a condenser mic over a year ago.
@swampmessiah: thank you for the compliment, you sure know how to make a barbarian blush.
@Lyndsie Alguire: i am glad you like them! they are highly personal and took a lot of time yet, they were a lot of fun to construct.
@amaximus: a 'bad' 3-4 months, that was suppose to say.
@swampmessiah: all of the tracks in this set ended up feeling that way to me. i had a 3-4 months.
@swampmessiah: the drone the whining hum of my neighbor's vacuum cleaner, which i recorded after catching myself humming to it.
@swampmessiah: this track was a lesson in restraint.
@swampmessiah: cool! i was trying to capture both the loving and threatening natures of a lover. glad you caught it.
@swampmessiah: yeah! i was very pleased with the build up in this song. nothing compared the awesome build up in henryk gorecki's symphony #3, "symphony of sorrowful songs" which is probably one of the most beautiful and inspiring pieces i have ever heard.
@swampmessiah: ha! i just ate some dark chocolate.
@Lyndsie Alguire: ahh, how whispering always grabs my ear. my leonine nature makes me ever so curious about mysteries. luckily, i did not understand any of it so it will keep my inquisitive disposition coming back.
sounds great! love the atmosphere and whispering voices!
hmm. warm and floating.
practice made perfect.
@Lyndsie Alguire: ahhh schucks. thank you for the praise. i am pretty happy with this track.
i like the faint subtle sounds that break up the droning sounds right around here.
@jurymee breakfast- thank you! i am glad you like it. i am also fond of that part.
@FalseDawn: thank you! it is a very personal track.
@Ordinary Breakfast: thank you, sir!
@Transport Puzzle Kvintet: thank you. it was difficult getting that. it took a few tries.
@MaCu: thank you !!! i had a lot of fun on this one.
thank you! i am glad you find it intriguing.
nice! way to switch it up!
your portland set was amazing! thank you.
