The second time she says "wait" with this mixture of hope and desperation...gets me every time.

This song is so goreous and painful at the same time. I feel like Amanda is saying that we are all trying to reach some kind of fulfilment in life and when say a relationship ends it is like the trout being killed before it has had time to breed. It bought me to tears with its beauty.xx

at 2.36 Held back tears until this. A smaller heart has been my wish since I was a child; being both blessed and cursed to live as an empath (with my heart on my sleeve at that) and feel the pain of others so intensely...I fucking LOVE you, AFP.

Here is an excerpt of an email I sent to a friend of mine deployed in Afghanistan right now right after listening to this song. Thank you Amanda, the song is wonderful.

"Apparently the story is that Amanda and Neil's first date was to a trout farm where they caught some rainbow trout and the guy in charge clubbed the fish to death and prepared the fish for their dinner in front of them. He pulled out the heart of the rainbow trout and showed it to Amanda and Neil, it was in his hand and still beating. He laughed and said "the children love it!". This experience inspired them to create these works of art.

I had a similar experience as a child when a little boy and I were forced to play together out in the woods because our parents were seeing each other and he had a BB gun and I remember sitting in the back of the truck and watching him shoot a brown dove, he had knocked it unconscious with the BB gun and proceeded to go grab it where it had fallen. He brought it back to the truck and took out his knife and opened the bird up, took out her heart and showed it to me while it still beat a little in his hand. I don't remember his name...our parents only saw each other for like a month... but I will always remember that little heart quivering and dripping red. I think he meant to gross me out as I was a girl, but I just sat there and stared at it. He nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders and threw it in the woods and continued to clean the bird while feeding the little scraps of it to his dog. The only thing I think I said was "Poor Dove".

Listening to her song and reading her lyrics brought this memory back to me and I love it. I am thinking about getting the words tattooed on me. I've been having a fascination with tattooing vast amounts of words on me of the different stories and lyrics and mean a lot to me in my life. Specifically this foreword that was written by John Schrab for the collectors edition of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and now this song. "

I seriously can't stop singing this song. Which is kind of sad, actually. But I'm okay with that.

From here on in, I'm totally invested in this song. These lines are incredibly powerful stuff. This part of the song breaks me and leaves me lying there, gasping for breath at the end.

Just after she sings the word "stop", and the music changes... It's like the musical equivalent of a kick to the chest... A musical discharge of a defibrillation. AND I FUCKING LOVE IT!

      CATHYCANE on May 29, 2012 07:50

The vocals and orchestra are so incredibly beautiful, soulful, strong and full of emotion. I love everything of your music but this is beyond words. Thank you Amanda.xxxxxx

The vocal is all amazing but the richness at the low end is just gorgeous
