@amadeus: I looked at this comment first, and then played the thing without looking at the waveform, and when this part came I thought 'that's probably what he's talking about.' Lol, beautiful and clever composition.

I'm totally unfamiliar with "MIDI orchestra". You're achieving some very realistic sounds here, I'm guessing you'd recommend checking it out?
-
@Son of Akira: i just meant i it was all done with MIDI rather than real instruments, i used the EastWest QL Symponic Orchestra plug-in if you are interested, i find it sounds pretty good especially if you use a harmonic exciter to bring out the high frequencies
- Son of Akira on August 14, 2008 00:20
@amadeus: Ahhh, I got it.... Yes, thanx, the plug-in name was what I was looking for, should've known it didn't have as a generic a title as 'the MIDI orchestra' lol

I had to listen to this 3 times, i wasn't sure if it was the track or my comp was lagging due to streaming 4 different olympic events. very sexy stutters.

Uh oh. I think in this breakdown you might need some notches in the high frequencies, there some biting and perhaps clipping. (though the clipping isn't necessarily a problem, give a subtle static lo-fi/old sound) Get some other opinions, and i'm gonna give it another listen on some different systems. But there was an unpleasant bite that is only in breakdown.

You know it's not too late to remix and remaster these old tracks of yours, even if all you have access to is as full mp3. I have 2 tracks from almost 8 years ago that I was suprised at how much I could do to them.
- Son of Akira on August 08, 2008 05:41
Oops, hit return. I can hear what you might be referring to with this track, but I wouldn't call the production 'sketchy' at all. I really dug the track, although I guess if you wanted to there are some subtle things you could tweak from a mix standpoint.
-
@Son of Akira: yeah that is a pretty good idea, cos i have lost the original files, but i might see what i can do with some of my older tracks with all the new knowledge and tools i have now.

What do you use instrument? Some kind of synth? /Adam, Silverpennies
-
@Silverpennies: bass and the weird lead synth is reason rewired into nuendo, the rest is other various lpugins, a piano sampler, vibraphone etc :)
