Stats for this track
Hard on the heels of their last release Terabyte are exceptionally proud to showcase their first EP: Liquid Technologies Vol.1. With the days stretching out and the nights getting more balmy TB007 is an exploration of Terabyte’s softer side custom-made for those blissful summer days.
Lunar, the EP’s first track, is a return to form for label co-founder Altered Perception. With solid, rounded percussion, a heart-aching piano riff and a bassline that purrs underneath Lunar’s still waters, it’ll make you want to throw back you head and howl at the moon.
The next track, Altered Perception’s remix of a colab between himself and Herer, another staunch Leeds head, is fittingly called Bitter Expanse. Half liquid roller and half autonomic stepper, it has the same thoughtful feel that characterises the EP nicely offset by Altered Perception’s wonderfully intricate drum work.
For The Rain Altered Perception and Herer bring it back again with another stripped down, tactful liquid tune that just oozes vibes. Strongly reminiscent of Calibre’s recent work, it acheives the same kind of gorgeous simplicity with a no-frills approach and gently pulsating lower frequencies that start at in the small of your back and, like soft fingers, work their way up into your mind.
The parting shot, Shuffle Hustle, is a welcome return to Terabyte for the very talented Automate. Simultaneously referencing jungle, jazz and old school funk it’s effortlessly catchy, definite future earworm material and backed up with the same high production standards that Terabyte has striven to preserve throughout their catalogue.
Set for the hot summer ahead (we hope) Liquid Technologies Vol.1 is another beautifully rounded release and a milestone as Terabyte’s first vinyl release and the midpoint of their very successful 2013, long may it continue.
