A Logic Named Joe: Helping to represent all things breaks in Southern California.
Greetings and Salutations,
Thanks for swinging by the page! In an effort to make use of this copy block, a little about the page. I performed as a DJ (vinyl assassin) on the west coast (and some precarious nights in Mexico) for over a decade, playing shows and clubs alongside such acts as Deep Dish, Sasha, Digweed, Crystal Method, BT, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, as well as various Perfecto DJs.
Along the way, I had an opportunity to throw down some Drum and Bass to fill in a time slot for a Planet of the Drums gig with Dara, AK1200 and Dieselboy. Suffice it to say, I fell in love. I continued to play under vaious monikers: Adam Joseph, Audio Engineer, and Dawn Voyager.
Under each name I performed, hosted, and dropped a variety of sounds, from Bay Are Trance rooms, weekly Deep House sessions, Progressive club residencies, 2x4 Tech battles at clubs and raves, to the latter drum and bass sessions. All have shaped a passion for electornic music spanning the vast genres.
A few years back, I decided that it was family time. So I stepped from the DJ life and set about building out my studio (which would later be turned into a nursery). From that venture, A Logic Named Joe was born, fusing a passion for production, science fiction and old radio shows with my love of creating strange sounds and the DJ mix.
I've generally considered myself a musical hack that somehow manages to stumble blindly across some type of coherent song. As A Logic Named Joe, I continue to work on a variety of sounds, primarily focused on the 3 pillars of breaks: Downtempo, Breakbeat/Hard Hip Hop, Drum and Bass.
I still continue to record a couple of DJ mixes each year, but at this point in time, I am primarily focused on writing music, and rethinking the fusion of Production vs. my beloved DJ Mix. I write music for me, in a way that I feel expresses the ideas in my mind. But more than that, it is a way to teach my kids about music theory, give them an opportunity to select sounds, shape waves, play instruments, and build the creations into song. The joy of sharing the journey of music creation with my children is what keeps the muscial juices flowing and revitalizes my soul.
Thanks for stopping by, and best wishes in your future endeavors. I look forward to reading your comments, and sending back my own, as time permits. I do wish there were more hours in the day. So many talented artists in this community, and so little time to experience it all.
