This all reminds me of Beck in the funkiest way!
"I want some more donut holes"
I always have believed that unless you mess up horribly, one-take songs are usually your best ones.
This track was the result of a practice session...guitar is played with straight barre chords with a 5th pitch on the octaver. The drums are the 808 patch on a Dr Rhythm 660....all the keys and electronica come from a Korg Kaossilator (the original one).
This song is mostly live-looped directly through a Yamaha AW16-G DAW (somewhat old school!), with some light accompaniment tracked in the background. I liked the juxtaposition of the swirly electro noises in the back contrasted with the blues guitar moan and the alternative-style lush guitar layers.
It reminds me a bit of the solo part in the middle of Metallica's cover of Budgie's "Breadfan"
I left a weird piece of demo at the end....it stays! I like the weirdness!
LOL Only I could fuck up a fadeout!
If anyone can create a song with this loop, let me hear it.
I won't apologize for the very bad quality. I just wanted to see if I recreate the song playing all the parts as a loop (bass, drums, guitars, vocals, etc.)
This is the last demo that I did recording directly into a laptop. After a while, you get used to the hiss and noise, which isn't a good thing.
I have a remastered version of this on ReverbNation. It sounds brighter.
I think this is one of the few demos I would redo. There isn't a lot of oomph to this tune, and there SHOULD be.
You may notice a chanting effect in the background. I simply turned the loop pedal on, turned the input down way low, and let it run as I sang the verses. Then I can turn it on and off with the 'undo' feature.
AKA the 'hot dog' song. Written indirectly about a couple who got in a HUGE brawl on High St. over a hot dog and shitty attitudes.
The lyrics to this song were made up on the spot. I like them...they tell a lot about what goes through my head (those close to me know where I'm coming from.)
Notice the watery sound in the background. Believe it or not, it was totally accidental. Artifact of stereo master widening...tracks panned weird as well, but since it's a demo, I didn't really want to re-upload it.
This song is basically a scratchpad idea of a riff that I've had in my head for the past 10 years. These are mostly just filler lyrics; Better words are forthcoming, along with a slightly funked out version to replace this one.
Notice the buildup of the instruments in the background...the quick layering of instruments is key when looping live so the crowd doesn't lose interest.
I thought my vocals were a bit weak on this track, but I liked the way it turned out....just a demo, really.
The de-hissing here on the beatbox is intentional...it de-humanizes it a bit, giving it a mellow, swirly feel.
Wow the recording quality here is CRAPPY!
WOW You can tell the difference between recording direct (here) and recording into a professional workstation....the sound quality here is terrible
Whoops on the flute here LOL
"I dance like Kokopelli" LOL AWESOME reference that no one will get.
Oh man...I had headphones on here....tripped my shit right out!
I faded in, mostly because I messed up the loop a few times before I got it right LOL
I like this loop, but unsure what to do with it.
