About
One half of production and DJ duo Groove Exponents and veteran of the Sydney underground dance scene, with a career that has spanned over 16 years, Allan Humphreys (aka DJ Assassin) started as a punter in the early 90′s Sydney rave movement.
With most of his friends already involved in the early rave scene as either promoters or DJ’s, Allan soon found a love for being in control of the music rather than just dancing to it.. Early local influences such as Sugar Ray, Phil Smart, Freestyle and Sasha help direct and shape his musical style and tastes.
In 1995 Allan got his first break with a guest residency at Funky Flips, run by Simon Stoker (aka DJ Freestyle, aka DJ D-Cypha). From there he has had made appearances and held residencies at clubs such as The Breakfast Club, Motivate, Funk-A-Nation, Addictive, Bang, Flavour, Instinct, Bar Cleveland, The Bay Lounge, Eden and many more.
After retiring from his residency from Eden in 2001, Allan took a 5 year break from DJing, however 2006 brought new sounds and styles that re-ignited his passion for dance music again. Since his re-emergence, Allan has made regular appearances at Diversity, Empire, Chinese Laundry, Plush and Tonic just to name a few.
Allan's diverse sound has also seen him support an even more diverse set of international artists such as Anil Chawla, Danny Moggs, Splitloop, Oh Snap, Ian Carey, Lisa German as well as playing along side most of today's local big guns.
Allan is currently working in the studio on original tracks and remixes under his own name, and with fellow Groove Exponent Graham Dunn.
