We recorded this episode of ALL OUT WAR RADIO in something of a daze. Only a couple of days before, we had heard the terribly sad news that one of Sheffield's best loved characters had passed. Okie Dulo was an absolutely splendid fellow in every respect, who was not only held in enormously high regard by his many friends, through his venues Dulo and Sawa contributed a huge amount to the underground music scene here in Sheffield.

Society was a night we ran for a few years in his bar, Dulo, which spawned the Society Recordings label, the Product of Society edits etc. We had some fantastic guests play for us for (Daniel Wang, Recloose, Toby Tobias, Red Rack Em, Chris Duckenfield, Kelvin Andrews and many, many more) and we will never forget the many great musical nights we had under Okie's welcoming wing. It was a great era in Sheffield and would never have happened without him.

When I realised we had our regular radio slot just 2 days after his tragic and untimely death, I knew I couldn't let the chance pass by to pay our respects to Okie. To be honest there was no time to plan the music with Okie's death in mind; what came out in the early part of the show was really a mixture of Society-esque selections and All Out War Radio-type selections, with one ear trained on the message - references to love and loss, night life, African vibes etc. Then halfway through the show we were joined by another Dulo and Society veteran, Nigel Fischer who fortunately had more time to gear up for the occasion and arrived with a bagful of records that had the 'Dulo' sound writ rather larger. At the end of the mix, after Far Beyond fades away... Nigel and I manage a few words.

The mix comes with profound thanks for all the great times and for all Okie contributed to Sheffield.
