For some reason this puts me in mind of a miniature dust storm... Maybe one contained in a jam jar, with only a few grains of sand. It's good whatever it is.

Many of these tortured piano entries have been excellent but this has been the best one so far... real "something creeping behind the walls of reality" stuff. Brilliant.

@swampmessiah: ah, a farewell to kings. i recently relistened, first time in ages, and felt it hadn't aged so well, seemed a little closer to the ground .. by comparison with the unbridled adulation i used to feel, i guess. that's one record i wish i'd just retained my memories of, rather than trying to refresh them.
but science fiction! dude, there is nothing midlifey about getting back into that.

Great track. Great title. Unfortunately my associations with Cygnus have been tainted by too many playings of Rush some 35 years ago. Read a lot of sf back in those days, too. I've been getting back to it (perhaps a geek's version of a mid-life crisis?).

@all n4tural: I had an SF phase as well - Robert Sheckley was a big fav - can I produce the film of 'on the limb of Cygnus' I want to be the kind of producer that puts in precisely nothing in terms of cash or creative feedback but creams off big profits

@Squinancywort: No, Sirree, no, this one comes from the <3. I read an inordinate amount of science fiction in my youth, and ever since, i've dreamt of publishing something, somehow, somewhere, with the phrase 'on the limb of Cygnus' in it. So mark this day in your calender, the day my dream came true and the day the Shuttle landed.
