@cpmcdill: thanks! yeah, i really like that, too, and am still exploring ways of exploiting it. it's an incidental byproduct of wanting to mute the grains that are jumping around in the sample; instead of setting the amplitude, i set the playback rate to something ridiculously low. glad someone else is using earphones!: )
