(((((((o)))))))))

Alex Ookpik is a Montréaler who writes, performs and produces avant-pop and electroacoustic music.
Her music bridges the worlds of pop and experimental music; taking in acoustic instruments, synthesis, field recordings, and studio manipulations.

She has produced music for Clara Engel, and Jordi Rosen, as well as written a wee bit of music for theatre and short film.

Her electroacoustic piece "Rust" was featured in the Vermillion mix of Vox Novus's 60x60 and was presented in Montreal, NYC, Berlin, and Italy in 2011, and again in 2014 in Montreal. Her follow-up piece "Hot Water" was selected for 60x60's run for 2013.

She was the lead-singer, keyboard player, and co-founder of the Montreal post-rock band Marlowe (1995-2005); releasing two albums and sharing the stage with Tindersticks, Snowpony (ex-My Bloody Valentine & Stereolab), April March, The Dears, Feist, and The Besnard Lakes, among others.

Her first solo album is forthcoming

I had the honour of making a little mix tape for the wonderful Mitamine Lab, an emerging project of artist-made, exclusive mixes/mixtapes from Mexico city and L.A. with the support of Steven Hall from Arthur's Landing & Buddhist Army. The mix can be found here and info page/track listing here. Thanks Mitamine! xo

As well, there is Soft Enerji's (aka Mark Blane) remix of my piece "Rust": Rust by Alex Ookpik - further corroded by Soft Enerji.

Thank you to all of you here on Sound Cloud! Your incredible support has been amazing! Go Sound Cloud! :-) xo
