My aim in music is to bridge the gaps between the different musics I love. African cyclic patterns and Balkanic ornamentation, free improvisation and methodic structure, clear melodies and falling-apart disorder. I try not to be too conscious about "fusion", instead I just listen, enjoy and study music, and then I do what sounds right to me.

At the moment I'm taking a break from composing and I'm focusing on my three bands: Kali Deryav (music from the Balkans, Turkey and the Caucasus), Ogham Ensemble (Celtic and Nordic music) and Tres Tristes Tangos (Klezmer, Tango, and weird stuff). I feel that I need to learn different musical languages (and learn them as deeply as I can) to have what it takes to make the music I want to do, but it also makes me very happy to play in these groups.
