About
'A lot can happen in a year', a cliché yes, but nothing else could be said that would be more fitting for Melbourne born Dj Alex Mckenzie. At the end of 2006 Alex took what he would describe as 'uncertain' steps towards a new career, a new life and with that, a new outlook by packing all his stuff into the boot of his car and moving to the festival capital Adelaide. This was an audacious move that has truly paid off.
Since the move, Alex has been working hard to 'reestablish' himself to be at the forefront of the new house movement in Adelaide, unleashing his own brand of 'future funk house' on the city of churches with great success.
Influenced early on by the deeper more 'progressive' sounds of the late 90's, Alex has been able to bring on board similar traits & sounds of these prominent years, but at the same time allowed his own personality & tone to shine through. More recently however, his influences have also stemmed from a broad range of artists & styles encompassing house, techno & everything in between. It is because of this broad taste & musical diversity that any typical set can swing between leftfield & qwerky house, deep driving tech to 'hypnotic' progressive.
Since moving to Adelaide and continuing to develop what he started back home, Alex now boasts a roster of International support slots, and it is quickly growing. The last twelve months alone has seen Alex share the stage with the likes of Anthony Pappa [Aust], Paolo Mojo [UK], Shlomi Aber [ISE], Silicone Soul [UK], Luke Fair [Can], Steve Porter [US] and Morgan Page [US] with more booked in for the coming months. Alex has continued to develop his club brand 'Neon Elektrik' which has now run a string of successful events in Adelaide and he also hosts a weekly radio show called SHIFT airing saturday nights at 8pm on Adelaides Fresh 92.7FM.
Now also rapidly gaining an appetite for production and live performance, It shouldn't be to long before 'Alex Mckenzie' is a name hot on every bodies lips
