All fresh as fuck and brandishing the sort of shout along indie-infused pop that the Japandroids would probably dig (we don’t know, we’ve not asked them) Doctrines are Alcopop! Records brand new signing…
Hailing from Manchester, the dynamic 4 piece (Jamie, Robert, Luke and Kyle) have been together just over a year, releasing a debut EP and appearing on recent BSM compilation ‘Making Music is for Pussies’. Their next EP, ZE, is released on Alcopop! Records (Johnny foreigner, Stagecoach, Freeze the Atlantic, The Social Club) and AC/Dsleeve in late June, all accompanied by a big old UK tour.
Here is a track from ZE. Feel free to put it up for download if you like:
Despite sounding like an unholy union between At the Drive in and Titus Andronicus, they actually draw their inspiration from some rather interesting means: Jamie takes up the story about the new EP – a 17 minute movement split into 4 parts.
“At the time of writing, we were on a mad sci-fi kick, learned about the singularity and got really scared about it all. So the intention was to attempt to write a futuristic tale inspired by that mad old guy Raymond Kurzweil, transhumanism and postgenderism... It’s NOT pretentious at all. In the end it turns out to be a story about the importance of family, friends and love. proper hippies.”
