Bringing the ‘Scottish Rock’ (so hot right now) LightGuides are a breath of fresh air from north of the border… And although a must for the fans of Biffy Clyro, The Xcerts and Twin Atlantic – there’s no doubt that with their barrage of twin guitar tumultuous melody, LightGuides bring something wholly new! It’s all perfectly showcased on this massive 7 track mini-album, released on August 29th through Alcopop! Records, on CD/Digital with limited edition glow in the dark T-Shirt pack.

Mark Cowan (lead vocals/guitar), brother Dave Cowan (drums/vocals) and childhood friend Martin Murray (guitar) cite American influences like Jimmy Eat World, Alexisonfire, Brand New, and The Get Up Kids, though make no secret of their appreciation for Blink 182, Paramore and a whole glorious era of pop-punk in between. They’ve already picked up plenty of admiration from the likes of RockSound, Big Cheese and The Skinny – and played with the likes of Johnny Foreigner, The Xcerts, Frightened Rabbit, dropping in at T in the Park and The Great Escape on the way.

Supporting the release with a 12 date UK and Scottish tour with stable-mates Jumping Ships (showcasing the ultra-talented ‘new breed’ of Alcopop! Records), LightGuides also enter the Red Bull studios in July on a brief sojourn through London to record a follow up EP in conjunction with Alcopop! And RockSound….

Catch them on the following dates this August with Jumping Ships:

    (15) London, Old Blue Last (16) Bristol, The Croft (17) Hereford, The Jailhouse (18) Northampton, The Labour Club (20) Kingston, Cricketers w/Shapes (21) Hastings, Tubman (22) Leeds, Milo (23) Malton, Milton Rooms (25) Thurso, The New Market Bar (26) Dundee, Dexters (27) Glenrothes, The Greenside (28) Glasgow, King Tuts

    “Intricate, intelligent little pop songs”
    The Skinny

“Tricky time signatures, loud-quiet-loud dynamics and vocals that sound like they're being bellowed from a mountain-top”
    News Of The World

“Memorable hooks, angular guitar pop and energetic”
    Under The Radar, The Scotsman
