Originally released on vinyl LP in 1979 this CD reissue of "The Way Out" also includes the classic "Move" EP and three home-recorded songs. The album was recorded at Surrey Sound and was the first solo release by the multi-talented Jim Whelton, who went on to form the It's War, Boys label and play with (a.o.) Amos & Sara, The Just Measurers, Die Trip Computer Die and a hundred others. Acclaimed by everyone from Steven Stapleton to Chris Cutler, from Matmos to Mixing It, "The Way Out" remains a definitive post-punk landmark, combining high-end conceptual art, intuitive musique concrete, found objects, extended song and elaborate - often zany - studio-as-instrument mixdown. NOTE: CD now in very short supply!
