On January 31st 2010, pianist and composer Rolf Hind will curate a very special event at London's Roundhouse as the climax of Reverb, a series of groundbreaking concerts.
This is an extract from 'Sunnata', Rolf's piece for 5 pianos and honky tonk, that will be among the incredible music to be performed on the night.
Alongside Rolf will be Moritz Eggert, Antoine Francoise, Zubin Kanga, Eliza McCarthy, Leon Michener, Sarah Nicolls, Noriko Ogawa (pianos), Joby Burgess (percussion), James Crabb (accordion) and dancer Jonathan Goddard. The concert is part of an all-day extravaganza of pianos, percussion and participation called Many Hands.
Also to be performed is Poul Ruders’ dramatic 'De Profundis', Jeremy Thurlow’s 'Prelude', Charlie Piper’s new acoustic arrangements of John Adams’ electronic classic 'Hoodoo Zephyr', Claudia Molitor’s 'Tango Two' with Rolf Hind and award-winning dancer Jonathan Goddard (with the collaboration of Mark Baldwin from Rambert Dance), and James Crabb performing music for accordion by Piazzolla.
The performance begins and ends with the premiere of a new work by Oscar Bettison which involves all the performers and volunteers from the audience (on whatever you can bring along to hit, bang, scrape or shake) in music for many, many hands.
