We met up to share summer stories
I did something foolish, did something stupid
    I did something wrong

It's my fault. The blame's on my shoulders
I've tried escaping, I have tried running
    but the burden's too strong

    I did what I said I wouldn't do
You know I did what I said I wouldn't do

The countless tears that I caused
never fell from eyes so pretty
the pain I caused was watering the floor
I had no idea what I was doing
or, even worse, what I was losing
my heart broke the day that I broke yours

She sat there with a right to be angry
she kept her cool but you could see fire
    behind her eyes

We stood there in a parking lot staring
    I said "I'm sorry." I thought I meant it
    she said goodbye.

I don't want to say goodbye
I don't want to say goodbye anymore

    I did what I said I wouldn't do
You know I did what I said I wouldn't do

The countless tears that I caused
never fell from eyes so pretty
the pain I caused was watering the floor
I had no idea what I was doing
or, even worse, what I was losing
my heart broke the day that I broke yours
