About
Dada Guitars is me with the occasional musician friend featuring on my songs. The music harks back to my post-punk influences and some of my glam/art-rock influences.
From January to June 2011, I released an EP a month on here: 'Alpha Beta Dada' is a compilation of the best of those tracks.
Basczax (pron: Bassax) is a band I used to be in a long time ago. We reformed online in 2010 and made an album over the net. The five tracks on here are a sample of the album we made.
I have also uploaded some tracks from my old 80s band The Flaming Mussolinis. We had a crash and burn record deal with CBS (now Sony) and were signed to the subsidiary label Portrait, then switched to Epic for our second album. As you will hear, we were very much a band of that era - I feel that some of the songs still hold up well after all this time.
The Dub Estate track on here was part of another EP I made in July of 2011. The music was meant to fuse dubby bass-lines, film soundtrack type textures with electronica. The aim was to make instrumentals that I would then improvise vocals over, following the atmosphere of the music. 'Flare Stacks' was one of those one-off songs and features me playing very basic piano on a recording for the first time. I wrote the words more or less as I played it, with some adjustments in the final take.
Other songs on here are solo songs mostly. There are some, as indicated, from a solo album I made called 'Songs from the wilderness'....other tracks such as 'Misty Morning Feeling' are pretty much one offs.
I make music because I love it and it keeps me reasonably sane.
