ALAM
(House / Techno / Prog House)
Having always been obsessed with music, Alam decided to push himself by testing the waters of his musical inspiration. Today, this DJ/Producer has made a name for himself, dropping his signature sets along the way. Not only was he one of the backbones behind Obsession Events, he has also definitely proven himself, as he is considered as one of the prominent new generation of DJs firing up the Local and International clubbing scene. Alam has always been upfront with what he does; showing his versatility by mixing different forms of style and genre, with his smooth blends of house music, to his unique selection of electronic percussive techfunk tunes. Regardless, he manages to deliver an experience of sound, which always leaves the crowd with wanting more.
Since beginning his career 11 years ago, Alam has held up residencies at most of the major venues, such as Kuala Lumpur’s premier underground club; The Backroom*KL, while making guest appearances at the legendary Zouk Club and Velvet Underground, Echo Bar, Ministry of Sound KL, and that’s only to name a few. Throughout the years, he has extended his musical resume over to the Indonesian scene, where he played at the famous Stadium Jakarta, Co2 and Embassy. In 2005, Alam continued to garner attention by developing his sounds across to Melbourne, Australia, where he quickly built up a following through his residencies at clubs such as Seven Nightclub and Brown Alley, and then while having the opportunity to grace the decks at the now defunct Metro, QBH, and Ffour. This in turn led to starting his own successful nights at two of Melbourne’s forefront nightclubs - Room680 and Miss Libertine. KL Beatz was a night he created, showcasing Malaysia’s hidden talents and redirecting a fresh new approach to the Melbourne dance music scene. His residency with Darkbeat opened up international opportunities and regularly playing alongside Melbourne’s best.
Meanwhile in Malaysia, Obsession had relaunched its branding with a new collaboration, now known as OMP Entertainment - the leading event company focused on expanding Kuala Lumpur’s influential nightlife culture. These countless achievements of Alam include the privilege of supporting worldwide events with renowned brandings such as the Yoshitoshi CD Release Tour, Resident Advisor Asia Tour, Gatecrasher World Tours, Nascent Reciordings, Slinky Australian Tour, Kompakt Recordings, Balance Series, Buzzin’ Fly, Dig Deeper, We Love.., Inthemix50 Club Tour, Kiss FM Radio, Hardware Corp, Sunny, Pretty Simple, Stable Music, Chameleon Records, Text Book Music and The Melbourne Techno Collective. He recently launched a brand new monthly night that he co-hosts together with local Melbourne DJ, Phil Moore. Together they run Definition and prolifically feature guests of the current local dance music scene, with a focus on the new breed of rising talents.
Alam has played alongside International artists – Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, James Zabiela, Desyn Masiello, Ben Watt, Slam, Nick Warren, Paolo Mojo, Chris Fortier, Darren Emerson, Michael Mayer, Guy J, Satoshi Tomiie, Nick Curly, Anthony Pappa, Luke Fair, Jim Rivers, Robert Hood, Fergie, Oliver Koletzki, Funk D’Void, Sebastian Leger, Jody Wisternoff, Ryan Crosson, Ashley Beedle, Vincenzo, Green Velvet, Silicone Soul, Charlie May, John Selway, Chris Tietjen, Paul Woolford, Gabe, Will Saul, Kazu Kimura, Dubfunk and many more.
On the production note, tracks like ‘Repeat the Lines’ and ’Filthy Days’ have been played by many DJs around the South-East Asia to Australia regions. ‘Kaleidosimple’ is out now on RedFlux Cinnabar through online digital stores like Beatport, with remixes from Nick Robson, Rodrigo Soria, and Yuuki Hori. The release has been charted numerous times and supported by various DJs such as dPen (FriskyRadio), Sandra Collins, Omid 16B, Nicholas Van Orton, Mattan (TrueSound), Matt Black, Onrika (Proton Radio), Rob W (Our House Magazine), Moonbeam, SLOK, Hans Tavera (Afterhours Radio), Naveen G and more.
Regularly playing in both Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne throughout the year anticipates challenges that builds his musical influences when delivering fresh, cutting-edge sounds and having full control when connecting with the audience. There is still much more to come, as this is only the beginning of another musical chapter as Alam continues to push his career to higher levels, gradually across the global dance music culture.
