walk-around
Mech tyrants taking over the world... or just swaggering with a big ass boombox.
A piece inspired by the city, by the normal rhythms of walking around, but in a more digital, robotic sense. I'm hoping to make a video some day (if I can team up with an animator!) where the story line is a robot walking around NYC, doing things humans would do, like pondering a store sign, looking over the water on the east river, appreciating park views, etc. All the while he's heartbroken because he can't find love! Somehow, towards the end of the video, he would meet another robot lady and be overjoyed. All that aside, it's a piece that touches on the isolation of the cold wind (in winter) as one walks amongst millions of people. Hardly isolated at all, in reality, and yet the inner focus and silence inspired by the cold creates such an illusion. The softer, more ambient synths in the background lend a deeper, insightful feeling to the drums and crunchy synth keeping the "walking" pace at the forefront.
