A series of one-take recordings, this piece was created in a few hours one night whose instrumentation varies from mis-appropriated acoustic guitar to electronic synth. All lines were improvised on the spot, recorded in one shot each. An acoustic guitar was turned on its back and placed on the lap of a percussionist, who banged away at the strings as though it were a hand drum. Shakers can be heard, the guitar amp was thrown into an attic crawlspace and mic'd, the synth bass recorded in one shot separate from the guitar, and a stack of delays is used to scramble and destroy the sound as it winds to the end of the piece. The name "G.U.T.S." was chosen because the song gives the listener the same feeling as looking at a complex system in action, such as the human body.
