About

London Based dj/Producer and Promoter Akil Varinda is originally from Portugal but spent most of his life in Mozambique.

Emerging from Hip Hop, to Drum and Bass, Garage to Jungle, his passion for House music began to take over and now u can find him selecting and listening to the best dance Music out there.

His sets are a twist of old Chicago House and recent Tech with a deep vibe and catchy Vocals. You can regularly find him in clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Egg, Lightbox, Warehouse joints but mainly organising his own Venues across London under Angel Dust Knights.

Spring is in the air and London’s waking up to the prospect of another party season. What’s the latest fashion, where’s the best place to hang out, who’s who and where can I get me some of that? 2012 promises to be big and we at Angel Dust are going to be having our own little piece of history yet again.

Back in 2010 Akil Varinda ( CEO , Dj and Promoter) found a place to call his own in the north of London at Angel Islington. An old semi converted pub with great character was soon to become one of the hottest party places around. Following a simple housewarming party the alarm bells were ringing in young Varindas mind that pub had a future.

Working with the Motek Crew the basement was transformed by a graffiti artist, lasers were bought in and the decks were settled in between a couple of K of sound. Over two rooms the place hosted regular parties with 250 of the young, the beautiful, the artistic and most hedonistic party goers in the big smoke.

As the parties gained underground notoriety it wasn’t long before the heart of Londons dance scene woke up and found itself in bed with the crew at Angel Dust. Hosting names such as Sonic Union, Steve Haines, Anthony Yaranton, Mario and Viddis, Amy Bain, Kira, Ben Coda, Wade Bennet, Nelski and Matt Hardinge the parties became the place to be for the decadent and deliciously twisted.

As all good stories evolve Angel Dust became the official after party for the club scenes bad boys at Motek, smashing out intelligent techno AD went on to host Max Cooper & Ahmet Sisman at the latter half of 2011

So 2012 isn’t simply going to bring more of the same, “progression is key” says Varinda and so it is. You can expect some crazy themes, mini festivals, hours of dance music, collaborations, BBQ’s and roof top parties and this year the mayhem will be moving out on to the road and into the clubs under Angel Dust Knights.

What will remain the same, and what stands Angel Dust apart from so many other things, is that Angel Dust is attended by the safest and most clued up party people you’re going to have the chance to meet. The ethos is to groove with pleasure so what goes on at AD stays at AD….. the doors are closed to keep the party alive. If you’re lucky enough to be one of the few who are invited you should count your lucky stars and then book Monday off work.

Varindas next step is music production and sound engineering, so there is a lot more to come in 2012.
