Akai One is a dj and producer from the southern swedish city of Malmö. For the last ten years he's been spinning records in clubs and the last four years he's been a pioneer of the new latin movement of cumbia and other tropical vibes in the region of southern Sweden. He was introduced to the new sounds of "cumbia digital" through his good friend and fellow dj Fructuoso DiiYey which made him rediscover the old cumbia sounds he heard growing up in his family home. Together with his mate and fellow cumbiambero he started the first pure cumbia-club in Malmö and they began spinning records under the crew-name "El Poncho Plástico". After a while spinning records was not enough and making tracks and remixes felt like a new experience. So armed with a midi-synth and a drum-machine Akai One started his new musical exploration.
And the exploration continues...now in the form of rediscovering the classic sounds.
