The Sea inside is all about Musical Hallucinations - something which I find pretty amazing - apparently good old Schubert used to have them, and used them to compose, early on. However as he got older, and his hearing got worse, the hallucinations started to repeat shorter and shorter sections - until they became just a few notes, and eventually just a constant high A which tormented him day and night...

What now, my eyes and ears are dead?
    If I re-invent myself,
    With electro music,
With the sound of a discotheque gun,
Would you come back? Would you come back?

Instinct makes a poor replacement feeling,
Makes a man feel deaf and dumb,
But your words fall on open ears,
    And a willing heart,
If they only knew how, If they only knew how...

    To calm the sea inside,
    And bridge the vast divide,
    The senses undenied,
    The noise intensifies,
    Control the raging tide
    And calm the sea inside

It seems the mad orchestra is ever marching forward,
    Deafening rate and rhythm,
    Under it's countless contortions

    And in this mad orchestra,
The grand finale soon will play itself out proudly,
    At it's own neural funeral

It is the sea inside, it is the sea inside...
