A couple of years back i developed tinnitus. It is not hearing damage related, it sometimes goes away for a little bit, and my hearing checked out as very good still. Most times now though it is reaching unbearable, so i read up that recreating the tinnitus you hear and playing it back to yourself actually mutes the internal one for a while. This tone is 6 different frequencies I isolated as the main ones in my tinnitus. Well lo and behold, when i play this back I have no tinnitus for a period of 30 minutes to one hour after even a one minute listen.

@dreikelvin: Thanks Drei, it took months to get it right. Unfortunately my tinnitus is slowly upgrading, so it doesn't work as well to make it go away temporarily anymore. Look for MFFL Part 2: The Quickening soon.
