I think the compression IS a bit heavy - it makes the drums sort of clobber everything else at times - in particular the kick strikes me as too prominent. Given how open and wide the rest of the mix is, I'd rather have the drums a bit more background.
But this is really fantastic. Now I just need to hear you singing over the top!

It sounds like it pre-dated Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' by a generation. Really great song, my favorite on Soundcloud so far.
