For me, this is the hardest thing being single. I have just rededicated myself to the LORD in rehab on 6/9/10 and not only vowed to HIM that I was going to remain clean and sober from drugs and alcohol but also from fornication. Since then, any and all men that I encountered decided not to stick around because I told them that I was married to CHRIST. Meaning...I refused to give into my old sinful self and fornicate with anyone. At first it was hard and I didnt understand why they wouldn't want a wholesome woman but now...it just doesnt matter what anyone thinks. I am glad that I am single. I am glad that I have decided to "present my body as a living sacrifice unto GOD". And I am proud of who I am today in CHRIST JESUS. I say...the single life for me is awesome. Its something that I have never done in my grown up life but something that I am proud to be now...until GOD sends me that one who I am meant to be with. And I dont care what other people think of me...I am willing to make that sacrifice to GOD and to myself. In the end...the only opinion that matters when it comes to where I go, what I say and what I do as a single person...is GOD's! And that is that!

Thanks, Sherri; It sounds like you grew up like me, very sheltered. But I appreciate your comments that you will be who you are in Christ wherever you go. I grew up in Nevada. Were read in our spiritual guidance growing up that we should not go to theaters. But the local movie theater had wholesome movies and we always went as a group and always came straight home afterwards. That w as in the late 60's. That does not happen so much today. The world has changed. Children are no longer innocent beings because of the internet and cell phones and society in general. All people can do is pray and do their best to set a positive example for the children and young people around them.

Do people still see single's groups as a "meat market" or are there still relevant Christian single's groups within the doors of Christian groups? The website, Plenty of Fish and Christian Mingle have a good reputation. In this internet age, I still think there is something to be said for the church single's groups, but most people who are looking prefer the safety of looking online.
