A.D. (After Disco)
Exploring a decade in House music 1979-89…

It was a publicity stunt gone awry, backlash from years of commercialized dance music. Steve Dahl’s infamous Disco Demolition Night (July 12, 1979) may have marked the end of an era to some, but Disco lived on in the ‘underground’ –thriving in fact– eventually finding a new voice as House music. Forced to continually evolve with the times and technology, House music’s rich history is based in a struggle for creative freedom, a struggle which defines the genre to this day.

Presented by Electric Elegance and Ground Lift Media, the new monthly event series A.D. (After Disco) takes a closer listen to the tumultuous post-Demolition Night years, and celebrates the emergence and evolution of House music & culture. Every 2nd Friday, A.D. takes over Chicago’s Sub-T Lounge with a resident lineup of up-and-coming and journeyman talents including Adulture (Dust Traxx), Just.One.Duran, Yazi the DJ. Rotating Local headliners every month!

A.D. aims to invoke and inspire a movement. In the beginning there was Disco, now let’s learn about what happens After Disco…..
