About
Christopher K. Nelson (aka CK, aDJnamedCK) has been hopelessly obsessed with 4/4 beats and DJ culture since he first heard Mistress Barbara destroy a little place called Babylon in Greensboro, North Carolina way back in 1998. And while the likes of Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia and Sasha & Digweed were the gateway drugs into dance music for CK, it wasn’t until spending some time in LA and hearing Doc Martin, Marques Wyatt, and Mark Farina throw down those luscious, early 00’s house tunes that the music solidified a lifelong grip on his psyche. Combine all of those early influences and you have a techno/tech-house DJ with soul, a DJ who has equal amounts of love for a driving bassline as he does for some warm chords.
He is the founder of The Gold Line, a collective and also a monthly event of the same name that ran for a year and featured such artists as Filthy Rich, DVS1, Worthy, Drumcell, Audio Injection, Raiz, Droog, Audrey Napoleon, Darius Aleksandar, Jorge Medina, Joe Bickle, No Thing, Mark Faicol, and Joshua Garcia, along with residents Danielsan and Serrano.
After taking a hiatus to focus on other ventures, The Gold Line has resurfaced, helping to produce a monthly event called The Shakedown at Exchange LA in Downtown Los Angeles. The Gold Line is co-hosting the Rockefeller room on Volume 1, which is happening on Thursday, May 31st from 9 pm to 3 am.
Starting June 10th, CK is involved in a MASSIVE weekly venture at what is the newest and undoubtedly most talked about rooftop venue in Los Angeles: PERCH. House music has never graced this roof before, where CK will be the resident DJ combined with some heavy hitters in Los Angeles to pop the cherry and give DTLA a more than worthy alternative to The Standard for sunshine and beats on Sunday afternoons.
