I recently bought an old Moog Source from a guy in Ajax Ontario. It's a really fun and simple synth to program. The song started by creating some sounds on the new Moog and seeing how they worked together if I recorded some melodies. It's a pre-midi synth and I don't have a midi to cv converter so everything from The Source was recorded without a sequencer controlling it. The majority of the song is the Moog, except for the drums obviously. The vocals are processed in a sampler, a Roland SH-101 makes an appearance and the woodblock acid line at the end is a x0xbox. All the synths were tracked through an RE-201 Space Echo. I thought I was going to have to de-noise everything, but I didn't in the end and I still think it sounds good (maybe better for it). I believe it's finished, but I'm never sure. I could do a bit more drum programming, but I think I like it being simple and sparse. You tell me. I recorded some guitar, but decided to leave it all synth-based in the end. This is the first track I've done in a long while. I'm going to try and make an effort to create more music this year.
