Hey Everyone,

We are proud to announce that Damon Moon and the Whispering Drifters new album, "Lungs, Dirt and Dreams" will be released on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 through Adair Park Recordings.

In light of that here is a brand NEW song from "Lungs, Dirt and Dreams" entitled "Seasonal Suite No. 62".

Enjoy!

Surrounded by an ever-changing cast of musicians that make up The Whispering Drifters, it is apparent that Damon Moon is not afraid of change. This shows up in his songwriting just as much as it has in his touring lineups in the past 3+ years.

The whole thing began as a recording project when Damon Moon left another Atlanta band, and didn't know where to put his energy. He started writing a few songs and recording at a close friend's home studio. It wasn't until a few months later, and 5 or 6 songs in, that it became apparent that a full length record was in the works, unintentionally, until then.

Moon spent several more months writing and recording what would become "Meridian Road", Damon Moon & The Whispering Drifters first full length record. Once the record was nearing completion, Moon recruited several close friends from other area bands to form The Whispering Drifters.

After a stint of local shows, and with the record still not released, Moon decided to record a quick EP to release in a limited quantity, to help maintain interest among local followers. That EP was titled "BURLAP", and consisted of 8 acoustic tracks recorded on Christmas Eve, in 2009, in a bathroom.

"Meridian Road" was released in March of 2010, and since then, Moon has gone through extensive over-hauls in his touring lineups, and released two more EPs (The Holy Noise EP, and Snowed In Sessions, which was comprised of 4 cover tunes, recorded in the Snowy December of 2010).

Most of Moon's songs up until this point have shared rather dark themes, and seemingly have been about a feeling of restlessness, maybe the finding of a home, or at least the pursuit of one.

Now, 6 US tours later, with the release of 3 EPs, one full length, and another on the horizon, it appears Damon Moon & The Whispering Drifters has found their home, on the road, spreading their brand of noisy and experimental Americana, one city and one show at a time. The band's 2nd LP will be released in 2012 on Adair Park Recordings.

"Georgia's Moon crafts folky-rock with an open-ended compositional verve. Apparently, the mood of the moment gets added to the song at hand. Old-time country, psychedelic riffs, controlled noise, whispering, howling and generally creating a one-man muse backed by a revolving crew of players. It's a slow bubbling affair that includes one of the most psychedelic takes on "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" this side of early Pink Floyd meets noise rock." - Samir Shukla / Creative Loafing Charlotte

"The man is truly a poet in his own right. His lyrics are strong and meaningful, as are his words. I asked Damon how he managed to keep up his energy night after night on tour. He told me that first of all, they are passionate about their music. That is key. He also said that “music is a means of travel…travel is the only means for music.” They’ve been coined “road warriors” in other interviews. I have to say that fits perfectly. He says that “the road provides a space for you to think about things” and it seems to me that he gets a lot of time out on the road and a lot of time to think. When I asked Damon where the inspiration comes from for his music, he said that he uses music to confront his demons, it is very autobiographical. His music is about the tough times he has gone through and how he still rises above it all and comes out a better, stronger person. You can’t help but to look at and past the beard, and see this guy who is just passionate about life and being on the road." - Kayt Westerlund / Indie Music Reviewer
