Legend for putting this out there. I got some easy, quick questions for you :)
- So sounds like you're routing all the Superior mics (it is superior, right, or is it original DFH?) directly to your DAW and using your other plugins for processing?
- You're doing the parallel comp in your DAW as well, or using superior's stuff? What are you using here?
- I take it there's no reverb applied here, but there's a little bit of ambient mic?
- You mention side-chaining the bass off the kick to get it to duck. Do you ever side-chain guitars at all, off drums or vocals even?Cheers Acle, sure you're gonna nail Sonisphere...

Ta dudes!
Well Kick In mic for the click, Kick Out for overall kick sound and Kick Sub mic filtered to just let in the 40-100hz region, then check the phase with the Kick out and Kick in...sometimes flipping it helps.
Off the top of my head...
KI:
I took out the low end up to around 150-200hz ...cut some some mids/honks around 200 and 400hz. Also notched a yucky plastic frequency around 4-5k and probably boosted the hi-highs like 7-12k area a few db.Tiny bit of compression i think touching it.
KO:
High passed up to 30hz. Clean and scoop it out around the usual 200/400hz honk regions. Again boosted the highs quite abit...i think a gradual shelf around like 6-8db from 7K upwards. Used the SSL channel plugin to compress by a few db and also gate a tiny bit to cut the ring out slightly. Boosting the highs with this seems to sound better than the stock DFH plugins also.
Kick sub mic as mentioned above. I think i may have used a transient designer on the Kick in and/or Kick out to remove some of the sustain by a few db. Also a sidechain to the bass guitar so it ducks by 2-3db when the kick hits.

I definitely like the sound you got going on with that snare. Very nice.
