About

Based in Aviemore, in the Highlands of Scotland, Achenar was formed in 2003 by sole member, Duncan Hemingway. Not tied down to any particular style, inspiration is taken from a wide variety of influences. Genre restrictions are ignored while utilising whatever various elements are appropriate for the music, which is often a combination of traditional organic instruments with modern electronic sounds.

Music composition first started on the Amiga computer in 1990, using the program Protracker. When technology finally caught up to ambition in 2003, allowing for absolutely everything to be handled by a single person, the music inevitably turned more serious and professional. The skills of sound creation and intricate effect use, learnt during the old tracking era, were carried forward and combined with modern audio capabilities.

Remember loads of elements here from the old track Ripoff. Great stuff.

Brilliant sounds here and an excellent rhythm to wield them with.

@Simpsonill: I wasn't sure about this track for ages, so I'm glad you think so. It nearly didn't make it on to the EP, but turned out really fun.

@mr_mark_dollin: Thank you, sir. The aim for the future is to combine this harshness and complexity with the variety of the first album, though with better songwriting. So your old man ears will have some respite ;)

@Lefty SpinHand: Thanks man. There will be more vocal involvement in future music. I kept it low key here as there's not many vocals in the rest of the EP, so I didn't want to have this stand out immediately.

Loving this. Most minimal stuff leaves me cold, but this is still brimming with emotion.
