About

Armed with hipster glasses, boat shoes, ironic t-shirts, and a dead stare sharp enough to engrave his name into music history, A Censored Sunlight (at first glance) seems like he was born to make it in the mainstream music industry. But after giving his debut record, Bloodlines, a listen, it becomes clear that Sunlight is doing something unexpected and great for not only the future of indie, but for the modern music scene as a whole. Every second of A Censored Sunlight’s creations are distant and sultry trips through echoing acoustics and lyrics nothing short of perfect.

Taking after the unconventional likes of Florence Welch, Bat for Lashes, and Bjork, fourteen year old A Censored Sunlight is a master of simplistic but anthemic lyricism and compsure. A lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, and surrealist, a concept was born after years of writing and perfecting. The pseudonym A Censored Sunlight serves as something of a forbidden territory that begs to be explored. Being a teenager trying to develop adult contemporary music. After developing interest in Dante's Divine Comedy, as well as the art of the commercial pop song, Bloodlines was born- a diverse and elusive musical grey area.

Although born to an accountant and beauty school dropout, Sunlight found his love for divine poetry through ancestry- both his father and grandfather are published poets. both with vague but intriguing concepts and mesmerizing simplicity. After being taught how to play guitar at a young age, and growing up listening to the strange mix of Spice Girls, Nine Inch Nails, and underground rap, Sunlight developed the ability to songwrite at age ten. Keeping his work mostly closeted, but quietly recording self-produced demos, music became the focal point of not only his childhood- but his entire world.

Having received a piano unearthed from a neighbor's garage, Sunlight began to teach himself into being a gifted pianist. Enter Liz Berg, a big name in the Chicago alternative music scene. A gifted songstress herself, Sunlight was fostered through the process of professional recording and the truth behind the brutal music industry. Sunlight is currently in-studio recording his debut album, still entitled Bloodlines. His first singles, Temperance and Sick, are now available on most major online music stores worldwide.
