About
Once upon a time, there was a boy. This boy wasn't special in any particular way, but the world that surrounded him seemed different than those his age. Patterns would coalesce out of music for him, offering rich sepia textures or the vibrant void of a clear blue sky. Songs became elaborate and fantastical stories, meant to entertain the mind's eye as much as its ears.
One day, the boy found a way to create his own stories with the help of his computer. The days following were good: warm breathy pads and energizing blips and boops emanated from his bedroom for weeks while he explored a world that he could master through MIDI synthesis.
Slowly, the boy grew up. Colors and wonderment began to dull with adulthood, so silently that it was barely perceptible. However, the mind's eye was still a child, and the dazzling landscape still existed while enveloped in music. As the boy grew, so did his mastery of that world, and the tools used to manipulate it. But life isn't always kind, and the boy's life became busy with girls, houses and money. Desolate and gray, the world wilted, withered and finally went into hibernation.
Many years later, and no longer a boy, he stood in awe as his friends, his peers, wield sound as an omnipotent paintbrush. Sitting down at his computer, he dusted off the old doorway in his mind, and pushed it open.

@DJMarcusj: :D I hope you liked the rest of it as well!
Those kicks are deceptively off the beats... really digging it
@hanklebury: Thanks! Creating that iterative disintegration was a lot of fun to figure out :)
@Syllix: Someone else had mentioned pencil scratching at one point and I can totally hear that. That's not what it is though! :)
@Carolyn Burnette: I am glad you liked it! Clicking the "Buy" button goes to Bandcamp where you can download it for free if you are so inclined.
@Carolyn Burnette: Yeah, the last track is good at lulling you to sleep, which is kind of the opposite of what is supposed to depict. :P
@Carolyn Burnette: The concept for the album this track is slated to be on (probably released in late 2013 at the rate I'm going) is to write a short story to accompany each track. I like using music to tell a story, but I also like writing stories too, so I figured I'd give it a try and do both in tandem. :D
@Carolyn Burnette: Thanks Carolyn! I'm really pleased with this last bit :D
@Carolyn Burnette: Yeah, not sure if I'm gonna keep the voice stuff. I think the piano can hold it all up on its own... when I get time to go back to the song I'll fiddle with it more. I can't seem to get a voice recording that I'm happy with.
@Carolyn Burnette: Thanks! Hope you've been doing well. I've kind of fallen off the planet lately :)
@GrebsoK: Thanks! Glad you dig it, it was a lot of fun to produce.
@Mira Shvangiradze: Thanks! I really enjoy that piano part, I'm trying to add more of my live playing (even if it isn't the best) into my music overall.
@Mira Shvangiradze: You aren't even at the good bits yet! :D
Really like the soundscape you built here! The long delays really give this a sense of depth.
@jai_: Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

FUTURE!!!
I feel like the drums are a bit stiff, but really enjoying the rhythm you set up with them. Digging all the background melodic stuff.
Really digging the groove you set up. That bass is pretty monstrous :D
@.bija: Agreed, this definitely sets a tone!
Did you record the radio thing or did you take it from somewhere else? I really like it. Reminds me of the intro to the movie Contact :D
The cooldown is great, I love what you decided to keep on its way out.
Brilliant layering of leads man, this really shines once it all gets together! :D
Nice breakdown! Love the trailing delay and bringing in new arps :D
This section sounds great, but it could use something to break up the repetitiveness. Even something basic like switching up the rhythm a bit? Digging the sound a lot though!
These arps are a great touch
@Aturax: It almost feels like you need some bass in the background. Like, not obtrusive, but something to gel it all together better. Haven't gotten to the louder bits yet though :3
Really digging the deepness of this pad, man. Great job here!
@lykke: Thanks! I'm glad you like it :)
@Aturax: Naw, I think they sound classy. I also think we should bring back that more aggressive bassline at some point, though I might dull it down a bit. :)
@Aturax: I like the thought, with the glitchy stuff you introduced, I bet we could glitch out the arps as well.
@jai_: Ha, you're right, I bet that would sound pretty great with a beat under it.
Yeah glitches! :D
I think these stabs are a bit loud, honestly, i wasn't a big fan of 'em in my version either :P You definitely make them work better rhythmically later on though!
I like it so far :D
@martin nonstatic: Thanks! Hope you can use it for something rad :D
@Aturax: I've been using mostly Ableton the past year. I sent you a message last night in regards to maybe working on something together soon :)
