About
abrasions is a San Francisco east bay experimental project written and arranged solely by Jay Ericson.
Jay began writing music alone in 2006. After several independent ambient releases--including 2006's Shades of Summer, and 2008's Nearly Lovers single--Jay recorded his first songdriven full-length album, the kaleidoscopic Memorial.
From the acoustic noise-pop of "Angel" and the shoegaze insights of "Dreamer" to the funeral, longing atmospheres of "All Ashes" and "Some Days", Memorial is a dark, emotional journey exploring themes of fear, loss, and acceptance over nine diverse tracks.
The music video for "The Waiting Wall",a dark-ambient miasma at the album's heart, came a few months later, recorded and edited just as independently as the record it accompanied.
Jay is currently playing live keyboards in the gothic rock band, Limnus, and writing the next abrasions album.
