abrasions is an east bay post-rock/darkwave project written and arranged solely by J Ericson.

Influenced by the likes of The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Elliott Smith, J began writing music alone in 2006. After several improvised ambient releases--including 2006's Shades of Summer and 2008's Nearly Lovers single--he began to take the project in a new direction. Crafting otherwordly soundscapes, industrial rhythms, and lush guitar orchestrations threaded together by his deeply personal lyrics, abrasions became a cohesive, indepedent medium of emotional exploration.

This coalesced into his cathartic, genre bending second album, Memorial, which was released on November 29th, 2009. The music video for "The Waiting Wall", a dark-ambient miasma at the album's heart, came a few months later, recorded and edited just as independently as the record it accompanied.
