! Starting life as a musician at the tender age of six Ben Kelly a.k.a Aboutface is no
stranger to the wonderful world of joined together crotchets, quavers, semi-quavers, etc. that
we call music. He is also no newbie to the production world, with 5 solid years of producing
under his belt which led him in 2008 to be picked up by BBC introducing, where his track
Ricochet was named in the top tracks of the year.
! He joins eViVE Records with an EP that expresses a progression of sound-pieces
whereby each track involves the listener in a canvas of textures, created partly through field
recordings and live instruments. These live recordings vary from the sound or gravel being
scuffed, glass jars, various metallic objects and of course more traditional instruments such
as piano and guitar.
! The result of Aboutfaceʼs willingness to step outside of the norm and mix traditional
with abstract techniques and sounds is a collection of sonic art, letting each track tell a story
through the use of micro-programmed glitch percussion melded with live piano and guitar.
Filled with emotion the Artificial Ignorance EP is a collection of tracks that can be enjoyed
both live and in the home environment.
