Starting life as a musician at the tender age of six Ben Kelly a.k.a Aboutface is no
stranger to the wonderful world of joined together crotchets, quavers, semi-quavers, etc. that
we call music. He is also no newbie to the production world, with 5 solid years of producing
under his belt which led him in 2008 to be picked up by BBC introducing, where his track
Ricochet was named in the top tracks of the year.
2009 saw his Aboutface EP "Ricochet" released on Davis and May's melodic imprint "Back Home", and artists such as James Holden, Ricardo Tobar, Sasha and the Kompakt Label showing support for "Lurid" and "Ricochet".
He recently joined eViVE Records with an EP that expresses a progression of sound-pieces
whereby each track involves the listener in a canvas of textures, created through an
amalgamation of field recordings and live instruments. These live recordings vary from the
sound of gravel being scuffed, glass jars, various metallic objects and of course more
traditional instruments such as piano and guitar.
The result of Aboutfaceʼs willingness to step outside of the norm and mix traditional
with abstract techniques and sounds is a collection of sonic art, letting each track tell a story
through the use of micro-programmed glitch percussion melded with live instrumentation.
Filled with emotion the main aim is a collection of tracks that can be enjoyed
both live and in the home environment.

5 of the tracks still available from Bleep or Beatport, lets try and keep the small indie labels that have the balls to release music that isnt big room dancefloor, or they will go away, like alot of the ones I have worked with!
@Ope Loeb: Thanks :-)

Like the use of this sample man (;
@Mu2l: Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. It was really fun doing something a little more than just music for once.
@Mu2l: Glad you like! I got up at 5 am pre traffic etc. It was reasonably still, but used a tripod and a full wind-protecting sock which is probably the most essential purchase after a recorder for this kind of recording. You can just hang it somewhere then go away, so any animals go near
@limbo / neontetra: :)
@Aturax: Thanks man, glad you get it!
@Y-Ton-G: thx :-)

@Benno.: :)
You have some lovely stuff on here guys
@Mu2l: Hey. Cool Idea mate. Think I am going to film a load of super8 for it, was thinking guerrilla gardening, i.e desolate areas of hackney with flowers in. I used contact mics and electro magnetic pickups I made at home, a Zoom h1 for stereo (so good for £80) and a senhieser K6 Shotgun for vocals an other mono.
@Augustine Leudar: cool, lemme know when and where. Glad you enjoyed.
