The Queensland government says casinos will boost tourism.

Premier Campbell Newman announced two more casino licences will be granted to regional Queensland for integrated developments.

Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate confident this news will help the coast's bid for a cruise ship terminal.

Deputy Head of Global Health and Society at the school of Public Health and Preventative Medicine at Monash University Dr Charles Livingstone disagrees that casinos equal economic benefits.
