His ancestors are from Persia & he has a family history that can be traced back to King Wajid Ali Shah of India.
He has played at many venues in England, such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Royal Opera House & City Hall in London, Live Theatre & Gosforth Civic Centre twice in Newcastle, Colchester Music Institute, Lustleigh Village Hall in Exeter, St. George Hall in Bristol twice, The Kings Place, Hove, Lady Wilton Hall in Manchester, Roadhouse, University of London, San Moritz Club, Isle of White Bestival, Spice of Life, Clubfabulous, The Good Ship, Powers Bar, The Camden Head, In Spiral, Belushi's, Spice of Life, Proud Camden & at the West Wing Arts Centre in Slough, opening for Tiny Tin Lady. In 2006 he headlined the acoustic show playing at the televised Isle Of Wight Bestival concert. In 2004 he toured the UK & the east coast of USA, Boston, NYC, New Jersey, Baltimore, Atlanta, New Orleans & Chicago. He has recorded on two world music CDs on Koch Records at CTS Studios (now called Phoenix, famous for Bond film music) & Navras Records. He has performed and worked with famous world-music musicians such as Ustad Ahmed Ali Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Imrat Khan, with members of Jools Hollands RBO, Cornershop (ex-member) & Anjali at Wiiija Records. Abbas has performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, where he was a member of an Indian chamber music orchestra. He was interviewed & performed Indian music on guitar for a Channel 4 doc narrated by actor Sanjeev Baksheer on the 50 years of independence of india. The DEMOLITION album, compilation of his studio demo recordings has sold over 15,000 copies since its release, it is co-produced with Roger (horns section) of Jools Holland's R & B Orchestra. In 2008 Abbas played 8 shows at The Theatre Royal (acoustic stage), Sounds From A Small Planet - The Second Annual International Summer Festival, supporting the Pre-Edinburgh Fringe Festival & adveritsed in print & online in Timeout. The O2 Islington Academy in London offered him a support slot for rock band 'What Now.' Recently Abbas met & chatted with Noel Gallagher at the iTunes Festival. I mentioned to him that I was a songwriter & of his influence, Noel asked, "yeah but are you any good," cooly I replied, "i'm okay but not as good as you".....lol
