oh, in regards to your samples. try eq'ing the samples with less low and more mid-high frequencies. it should rise above all the synths a bit more.

@molly k spore: yeah i learned from listening to bassnectar. if you integrate enough sub bass to any of your 'filthy' sounds, it brings them to life and lets you use them in your melody.
