About
.It's macro time again
João Costa (aka Aaron Adley), is a young and promising Portuguese producer in the areas of techno, tech and progressive house music. His main influences are those of Richie Hawtin, Trentemøller, Adam Beyer and Steve Lawler. His journey through the world of electronic music started sort of two years ago, in 2008, at the age of 21, when he started mixing and producing pretty much at the same time. In his early days, as Aaron explored the depths of psychedelic trance and progressive house, he joined a well establish online portuguese radio community called 'Housebox', where he furnished his capabilities and music culture, having signed several tracks under the aliases 'John Lucarelli' and 'Dubslick' for the newly formed Portuguese label 'Pandora Digital Records' managed by Miss Nutz, one of the first to scout his talent.
As time went by, João changed many of his early impressions about electronic music, coming to create the kind of music that characterizes him nowadays, as his composing maturity developed. It’s certainly fair to say that his tools of the trade are based in minimal techno and progressive tech house with a mix of abstract and psychedelic elements.
2010 makes the front page of his debut and acknowledgement, when he started producing under the alias ‘Aaron Adley’. Setting up his own peculiar approach, he was able to grasp the attention of international artists and labels such as: Frédéric Gouin (aka Dj Mono-poly) and François Duguay (aka Sequential Factory), co-owners of Eresys Rec., a newly and very promising Canadian record label, having connections to Luca Ricci’s Aenaria Rec., amongst other well settled record labels around the world; and Sander Bongertman, a dutch techno producer and co-owner of SoundTherapy Rec.; on whose labels João is currently under signing process.
His debut is set for September ’10 with his powerful 2-track EP called ‘Aspekts’, which astonished most of the listeners, Dj Mono-poly in between, booming to the imminence of signing it right away. He also has other projects in hand, such as his last EP called ‘Colors’, a progressive and psychedelic alike 3-track EP, that has already made its commotion into public approval. There are remixes for several Portuguese and international artists being signed also, such as Sequential Factory’s ‘Northstar’, coming out by Eresys Rec. in August, and Harmon Ikka’s ‘The Moon Was Orange’ coming out by SoundTherapy Rec. in the next months as well.
Preparing the future, Aaron announces that new projects are being arranged, including remixes for renowned and less known artists. “Future is here, now” – this is the artist’s conviction and hope for this year and the next. Be sure to stay tuned and ready for the fresh blows surfacing in next to no time.
