Cairo, March 21st 2011.
As the Egyptian pro-democracy revolution is being overthrown by a coalition uniting Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Army in power, some are watching how the United States of America will stand by its values, and by President Obama's uplifting public statements about the revolution.
It unfortunately didn't take long for Security Advisor Tom Donilon to inform that U.S officials "want to congratulate the Egyptian people & the government" on the reforms.
Tom Donilon is referring to March 19th 2011's referendum on the Egyptian amended constitution.
It would take a Political Science freshman to point fingers at the many articles of the amended constitution that make it profoundly undemocratic and sectarian.
Furthermore, it indisputably jeopardizes Egypt's democratic aspirations.
Finally, although the turnout was indeed spectacular, one should be reminded that an election, alone, is not democracy.
March 19th's referendum violated each and every single principle of a fair election. Details and proof available upon request.
Again, Egypt is governed by horrendous torture, sexual molestation, military courts, manipulated media, brainwashing and sectarian divide.
If the pro-democracy movement seems less vocal and mobilized than a few weeks ago, it not out satisfaction. It is because of torture.
This is dedicated to Margaret Scobey, US ambassador in Egypt who is not responsible for what is happening, but who is siding with the wrong people.
