A Night In The Woods is a project that took me awhile to reach. I have been in several projects, played concerts and recorded as a guitarist and lead vocalist. After playing guitar for 8 years and picking up new instruments on the way, my main goal now is to record and get my music out there.
More specifically and currently, I am working on a solid demo that will probably be around 5 tracks long. While I do have school and a job going on, I am still putting a lot of time and thought into this demo. Since this is a one-man project, I will be doing vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and any other instrument or sound I can get my hands on. Another project I am going to construct in the near future is an instrumental album that is written as though for a film with a story behind it, including pictures and video in support.
I'm constantly searching for and creating new, unique sounds; furthermore, stringing them together in a catchy but original manner. Another concept to this project is to create an addicting and catchy; yet, dark sound. Certain sounds are created to put off vibes that surface specific images and ideas. A Night In The Woods can be thought of as a cunning thriller film broken down into sound.
The music can be described as dark, charismatic, haunting, and reassuring all at the same time. In actual "genre terms" it would probably land somewhere in alternative, ambient, indie, and rock. Bands of influence and similarities are Radiohead (old and new), indie bands such as Bon Iver and Grizzly Bear, Joanna Newsom's darker songs, and structrual song methods from the album Cult Fiction by Spitfire. Books like Walden by Thoreau and thriller/horror movies like The Strangers also contribute inspiration.
Music is simply my passion and I will never stop playing it regardless where it takes me. However, my goal is to take it as far as I can. I am interested in recording and selling albums, creating music for films, performing in shows, and exploring other areas in the music world.
