About

Born in the musical borough of Queens, SpenceGabor was making mixtapes at the age of seven. By the time he was twelve he had mastered the guitar and drums, and organized the first of many rock bands where he would write the bulk of the songs. Spence was blessed and cursed with a deep and painful love of music, driving him to immerse himself in every facet of the art. He even learned to engineer his bands’ work, first by trial and error, and then in school.
But even that couldn’t hold his interest entirely. He credits his older brother, Tamas Csernus, owner of Bluesound, a wholesale distribution company in Europe, as his recording guru. Tamas also turned him onto electronic music and maxi singles, where he discovered inspiration in Depeche Mode, Moby, Howie B, FSOL, and DJ Shadow. Spence has spent years learning production, and DJ’ing at places like Jack Rabbit Slims and Club Moomia under the name Nexusdeep. It translates to "star deep", signifying that each one of us has our own star quality. It’s his permanent belief, (it’s even tattooed to his back), and his newly formed label (nexusdeep.com) of the same name will turn to recording and publishing later this year. It houses many talented new artists in and around the NYC area, Latin America and parts of Europe, such as JMI, Disturb and Jools.
Spence also runs the new Brooklyn underground party, SPACE INVADERS, that’s devoted to the artists and DJs he represents and develops. He used HedNorton to release remixes, like "HedNortons 8660 Deposit" of M.I.A.s "XXXO". He gained acclaim for "I Kissed a Girl" by Katie Perry, and "Me La Couler Douce" by french pop singer Jenny Canto, which attracted a lot of attention in 2008 and 2009. His debut single, "The Session," was released in June 2009 on ModyWorks where he is Director of A&R as well.
SpenceGabor's music has been described as minimal techno, but it has grown into a blend of electro-pop and hip-hop. But however it’s labeled, it doesn't sound like anything else out there. And that’s why so many different types of artists want to work with him. His love, and his pain, is just the music. He is as passionate in the throes of making a hip hop beat for an MC, as he is remixing a dance track and tweaking vocals. He innovates and tweaks, until it hurts.
Recently he created the new electro pop duo Button Love, and co-produced and co-wrote their much anticipated single "Limo". The video is being shot by Marc Levine, creator of Scene Interactive, and the song will be released this coming year. And he’s just remixed M.I.A.'s "XXXO", inspired by his girlfriend’s obsessive play of the track. But the music took root in him, and tilled with his great respect for the uncompromising M.I.A., new art sprouted. Enjoy.
