Shinobi Ninja is a genre twisting rock circus with an explosive live show. Hailing from Brooklyn N.Y., the band’s six diverse characters mash up the sounds of The Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, The Roots, and Sublime.
Their 2011 debut album’s single and namesake, "Rock Hood", was featured on Q104.3 FM in NYC and in the video game NBA 2K12, which has sold over 5.5 million copies worldwide. In addition, the videos for "Rock Hood" and "Slow Mourning" were SN's first and second adds to MTV + MTVU's regular rotation. The band's video game, “Shinobi Ninja Attacks!,” was downloaded over sixty-thousand times and was the first of its kind, spawning the album app generation (Time.com: "Jay-Z and the Mainstreaming of the 'Album App'"). In 2013, Shinobi Ninja toured the west coast, east coast, and midwest in support of "Power Strangers", and "Gloom Doom", the first two singles off their forthcoming album "Escape From New York", due out Q2 2014.
“To put it simply, they are a walking, breathing and screaming cartoon: Loud, colorful and full of enough energy to put nearly any another band to shame.” - Radio Exile
With their original music and D.I.Y. ethic, Shinobi Ninja has developed into a nationally touring rock band with a grassroots following who are vigorously connected to the band via their social media and live performances. When not headlining their own tours, SN has performed at the inaugural Catalpa NYC Music Festival, 311's Pow Wow Festival, The Warped Tour, Summerfest, SXSW, and CMJ, alongside a variety of artists including Tom Morello, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, 311, Snoop Dogg, Robert Glasper & Erykah Badu, Black Sheep, Das EFX, The Black Keys, Das Racist, Azealia Banks, Schoolly D, Matt & Kim, Slightly Stoopid, Chiddy Bang, Thomas Pridgen, Mike Posner, Angelo Moore, Green Jelly, DJ Skribble, Saigon Kick, Tokyo Police Club, Cage, and Rise Against.
Prior to forming Shinobi Ninja, each member had respective careers in the music industry. Vocalist, D.A. had been a busy NYC musician, producer, and engineer at Progressive Studios. Vocalist, Baby G, who worked as a singer and dancer for major label artists like Rihanna, Diddy, Cassie, and Santigold and was a fixture in the vocal master class held at Progressive by esteemed vocalist, Craig Derry of the Sugarhill Gang. Twin brothers, guitarist, Maniac Mike and, drummer, Terminator Dave ran The Sound Machine, a recording studio where they produced their projects and the work of other artists. Alien Lex worked at the Sound Machine. DJ Axis, an accomplished battle and club DJ, played in bands with Mike and Dave. After two years of of making a living together at Progressive Studios and The Sound Machine, this group of eclectic musicians decided to combine influences and form Shinobi Ninja in March 2008.
