About
Regina “Gun$” Garcia, originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, came upon the Philadelphia music scene while attending Moore College of Art and Design. She initially made her way into the electronic music arena designing merchandise and promoting events for the future music DJ / production titans, Seclusiasis. In June, 2009 she began her first DJ residency at Flamin Hotz Records' ‘I CAN HAS BASS?’ party at Medusa Lounge. Soon after, she was welcomed into the New Jersey based, Philly chapter, of the Brick Bandits, club music DJ and production crew.
In June, 2011, Gun$ released the genre defining "Amor Prohibido" Mixtape; a critically acclaimed combination of the burgeoning Moombahton & Luvstep sounds, presented by the genres' pioneers, David Heartbreak and Dirty South Joe. In October, 2011 she released a groundbreaking all female rap mixtape, "Bad Bitches Bomb First," which ranked number 34 on SPIN Magazine's Top Rap Albums of 2011 list - the only female offering on the chart. Her latest mix, for the Fingers On Blast blog, is a journey into harder and dancier, club and house music based sounds.
