About
DJ: 2003-Current:
After 18 years of; performing, promoting and running events, and working for radio and free music press, Peacey P has a pretty good idea of how to help people let their hair down and shake it. Selecting from an extensive, ever growing collection, his ability to read a crowd is a talent many aspire to. He can take an audience on a musical journey, keeping the dance-floor pumping for hours, whether the music be house, electro, club, disco, soul, funk, retro, pop, drum n bass or a mash-up.
Looking to further his career while continuing his weekly crowd workouts, Peacey P has been doing his homework, honing his style and skills. With a stronger focus on current club sounds, he gets to let loose at his Wednesday night residency at Lounge, playing music for the dancers, Melbourne's discerning taste-makers and more mainstream crowds. He is looking to gain more experience in Melbourne's other top venues and play more gigs interstate. Quitting his day job in August 2007 to focus on DJing and promoting, his success is testament to his passion for music.
DJ History:
Born with an obsession, Peacey P first started playing records on his parents old 3-in-1 PYE stereo at about age 7 and started collecting records at age 10 when he inherited their old record player.
Peacey P started his first residency playing disco, house and hip-hop at a bar in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley Mall in 2003. He was soon hosting a Friday night internet radio show and playing at university events while holding down his residency. During 2004 he was mixing drum n bass performing at and promoting various Brisbane parties and clubs including The Moon Bar, Jorge Bar, The Zoo and Rics Bar alongside luminaries such as DJ Jonny G, DJ Katch, DJ Aniki and De Le Haye.
Early in 2005 Peacey P moved to Melbourne to pursue a dream of a earning his living performing music and entertaining. Though soon after he was working full-time for an entertainment booking agency he had already secured a regular Friday night gig at local DJ favourite, E-55 where he would mix soul, funk, hip-hop, dub, jungle, drum n bass, breaks and more. Later in 2005 he was gaining a solid reputation at underground club parties and in 2006 he started running the monthly More Bass events with DJ/promoter friends CuznMatt and Arianwen. Setting a new standard in musical diversity, More Bass was to become a Melbourne underground techno / dance staple for almost three years. At More Bass he played along-side some of Melbourne's top DJs such as Slieker, Dave Pham, Machina, Bubble and Squeak, Toupee, Zen Paradox, Luke McD and Lex. Often holding a full dance floor till 6am at these events, Peacey P was consolidating his reputation as a DJ who rocks the party.
Since 2006 Peacey P has held down weekly residencies in Melbourne at Lounge and Club Retro, played at various other Melbourne pubs and clubs and supported international DJs and touring acts such as Hyper (UK), Snax (NY), Vandalism, Dirty Laundry and TV Rock. He still guests at some underground parties, most recently Yeah F*ck Yeah and Jungle Fever. He occasionally performs in Queensland when he visits family and friends.
In 2010 Peacey P joined Melbourne based arts collective Track Alley, and has been working on projects in conjunction with them ever since.
